Crystal Palace are ready to make a $15m offer for River Plate rising star Pablo Solari, but that may not be enough to get a deal over the line.

That’s according to journalist Miguel Hoffman, who has confirmed Crystal Palace’s interest on a recent appearance on Radio Continental.

El Futbolero cover the journalist’s recent appearance on the radio station to discuss Solari’s performances this season and a potential move to the Premier League.

The youngster has been one of the stars for River Plate this season, proving to be the driving force in the side despite only being a substitute.

Thos performances have not gone unnoticed, and several reports have indicated there is interest in the Premier League from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Hoffman now confirms as much, stating that Palace are ‘interested in acquiring’ the services of the 22-year-old, who has 12 goals and 10 assists in 2023.

He confirmed that the Eagles would be willing to offer no less than $15m dollars for the player, but River Plate are looking for $25m, so there is a considerable distance between the two parties at this moment in time.

That $25m figure is below a $20m release clause that was mentioned earlier this year, so it seems Crystal Palace are looking to get a discount either way.

With them seemingly ready to make a move, though, Solari may be a name to keep an eye on in the coming weeks as we get closer to January.

Loaned to RWDM last season from Crystal Palace, Jake O’Brien returned to Selhurst Park with a new status, having enjoyed glowing reviews in Belgium.

There was a belief he might be able to convince Roy Hodgson to use him during the current campaign, and the player set off on pre-season with the Premier League side.

However, it wasn’t to be, and the defender was sold by Crystal Palace to Lyon, where he is now making a name for himself, sitting down with Le Soir in Belgium to discuss the last few months of his career.

While there was a lot of talk about his time at Molenbeek, where he won the Belgium second-tier title and helped them return to the Jupiler Pro League, he was also asked about his return to the Eagles and his desire to prove his worth to the English club.

He said: “I especially wanted to prove it to myself, but after the preseason, which went well in my eyes, I thought it was time to move and follow a different path in my career. I wanted a new challenge, and Lyon came. I couldn’t refuse.”

There was also talk about him potentially returning to RWDM on a permanent basis, and O’Brien admitted that it was a possibility, but nothing concrete ever came from it.

That’s why he chose to go to Lyon, who have been in terrible form, sitting rock bottom of Ligue 1 with one win in their first 11 games.

It was, in fact, O’Brien who scored the winner this weekend against Rennes to give his new club their first three points of the season.

Despite Denmark being on a good run of form in terms of victories, the manner in which some of those have taken place has left a small dark cloud of Kasper Hjulmand’s role as the national team manager.

That’s because they made a meal out of a 2-1 win over San Marino, but Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen isn’t exactly worried for the man who recently picked him to be a part of the squad.

A couple of the Denmark players were asked if they felt there should be a change of manager, and while some tried to dodge the question, the Eagles man, speaking to Bold, stepped up and answered it directly.

The Crystal Palace centre-back said: “I think it’s a bit ridiculous, to be completely honest, but it’s not something that I want to focus that much on. We have won the lsat four games, so that is what I’m basing it on. We have a game on Friday where we can win the group, so that’s good.”

Denmark play Slovenia on Friday at home, a game in which Joachim Andersen will almost be guaranteed to start in, before heading to Northern Ireland for their second fixture of the international break on Monday.

With already 25 caps to his name and a starting spot at Crystal Palace locked in, the 27-year-old has been in good form this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist for the Selhurst Park side in 12 Premier League games.

Towards the end of the 2021 summer transfer window, Crystal Palace were in search of a new striker, and decided to spend just over €16m on Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman, who was so lethal in Scotland, has taken his time to adapt to Premier League football, but it appears that after two seasons with six and five league goals to his name, he is finally finding his feet.

The Crystal Palace forward spoke to Paris Saint-Germain’s website over the weekend to discuss his early career with the Ligue 1 side, as well as what followed his 2017 exit, with the current season also a topic of discussion.

With five goals in 11 Premier League games to date, Edouard has already equalled last season’s tally (in 35 appearances), showing that he can be a key player for Roy Hodgson’s side, and can be counted on to find the back of the net.

The striker revealed he is trying to have his best season to date with Crystal Palace, as he has loftier ambitions that remaining at Selhurst Park, even if he is very happy to be with the Eagles for the time being.

He said: “I try to give the best version of myself every time I step onto a pitch. Making the supporters at Selhurst Park proud is my goal. It is by achieving successful performances that I could aspire to join one of the biggest European clubs.

“I strive to become a striker that matters on the European scene. It is therefore important to have a great season with the Eagles.”

With a contract at Crystal Palace coming to an end in 2025, next summer could be key for both the club and the player, as he would only have one year left on his deal.

This would mean either putting pen to paper on a new contract at Selhurst Park or a transfer away, all depending on who becomes interested in the 25-year-old.

In the final week of the summer transfer window, Crystal Palace made an attempt to sign Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain on loan with a compulsory option to buy.

However, the French side wanted the striker to be a part of the deal for Randal Kolo Muani at the time, which is why the offer from the Eagles was turned down.

Ekitike, down his end, refused to go to Frankfurt, and has since been sidelined entirely by Paris Saint-Germain, with Le Parisien covering his current situation in depth.

The newspaper state the player, who actually wanted to go to Crystal Palace at the time, is biding his time, compensating the lack of game time with a program put together by personal trainer.

He has decided to just take his situation as it is, and wait for an opportunity to leave down the line, as Le Parisien explain that ‘an exit door will be opened’ for Ekitike in the January transfer window.

However, the forward doesn’t want to sign ‘just anywhere’, which is why he previously refused loan offers from Adana Demirspor and Zenith St-Petersburg, which were accepted by Paris Saint-Germain but not the player.

That’s when the outlet recall the ‘irony’ that Nasser Al-Khelaifi had ‘placed a veto’ on the move to Crystal Palace just a ‘few days before’.

Therefore, if the Eagles are still interested, and there should be no reason why they wouldn’t be, they will get a second chance at signing the young forward in the next transfer window.

Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor has joked he wants to see Flamengo’s Wesley join the Eagles at some point.

That’s according to ESPN Brazil, who cover comments from Textor today after Botafogo’s clash with Palmeiras last night.

The American was in Brazil to watch his team, Botafogo, take on Palmeiras in the Brasileirão Série A, with the away side eventually running out a 4-3 winners courtesy of a 99th minute goal from Murilo Cerqueira.

ESPN explain that ahead of the game, Textor spoke to them exclusively about recent refereeing controversies against the championship leaders and then took the opportunity to praise Flamengo’s Wesley.

”I like Wesley, he’s a good boy, I want him at Crystal Palace,” they say he ‘joked’ about the 24-year-old left winger, who has four goals and one assist in 25 games this season and 13 goals and 15 assists in 124 games in total for the Brazilian club.

Whether those are the kind of numbers that would convince Crystal Palace to make a move to bring him to England is up for debate.

On the face of it the answer would presumably be no, but the Eagles have shown with the €20m deal to sign Matheus França in the summer that they will explore the Brazilian market If they think it appropriate.

Wesley may be a name to keep an eye on moving forwards, then, with Textor clearly a fan, even if he was just joking on this occasion.

Crystal Palace and West Ham United will be given a second shot at Paris Saint Germain striker Hugo Ekitike in the January transfer window as the French giants desperately look to move him on.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say an unnamed Premier League side are ‘still very interested’ in the forward and ‘could go on the offensive’ for him in January.

They explain that Ekitike is currently ‘persona non grata’ at PSG, training without any hope of playing after the club made it clear they don’t want him.

He’s not a part of their project moving forwards and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Luis Campos did everything they could to get rid at the end of the summer window.

Crystal Palace, West Ham, Lens and even Eintracht Frankfurt ‘surveyed the field’ and considered a move but nothing came to fruition at the end of the window.

It was the latter who looked most likely as PSG tried to include him in the deal for Randal Kolo Muani, but they couldn’t get it over the line and Ekitike was left out in the cold.

He’s ‘patiently biding his time’ and waiting until the January transfer window which will ‘undoubtedly involve’ a departure.

His value has melted away because of his situation but his popularity has not and there is still a market for him, particularly among the clubs looking for a number nine.

Interest is certainly growing in the Premier League where a club ‘whose name has not been leaked’ are ‘still very interested’ in a deal and could make their move.

Foot Mercato refuse to name them, or simply cannot, but given they state both Crystal Palace and West Ham were keen in the summer earlier in their article it’s not a stretch to imagine it is one of them, particularly as it’s later claimed the English club are ‘still very interested’.

That would suggest it was one of the clubs who wanted a deal in the summer and those two were certainly the most linked.

Whether they can now get a deal over the line remains to be seen but the opportunity is there as PSG are desperate to work something out.

Brazilian midfielder André Mortiz may not have stayed at Crystal Palace for long, but still holds a lot of affection for the club.

That was explained by the recently retired player in an interview with ESPN Brasil, where he recalled the season he spent at Selhurst Park.

Mortiz joined Crystal Palace in 2012, after ending up out of contract with Chinese side Mersin IY. In his first and only year in London, they won the Championship and got the promotion to the Premier League. He now claims he had unique treatment from the club fans during his season there.

“I have three shirts behind me, the three main ones in my career, of all the clubs I’ve played for, I have three main ones, which are Fluminense, Avaí and Crystal Palace. And I have an enormous love for the club. Because no fans have ever embraced me as much, thrown me up so much, appreciated me as much as the Crystal Palace fans have,” André Mortiz told ESPN Brasil

The former midfielder also talked about what impressed him the most while at Crystal Palace. That’s how hard the players used to work at the club, and that changed his mentality for the rest of his career.

“I learnt that I’ve always been a professional, I’ve always enjoyed training. But in England, training was at 9am, I arrived at 8am and everyone was in the gym. I said: it’s not possible, tomorrow I’ll arrive at 7.30am. I arrived and half the team was already in the gym. I’d arrive at 7am to have breakfast, to go to the gym, and there were already people there. And when the training is over, there’s extra training.

“These guys have longevity in football because of their gift, of course, but more because of their commitment. And I learnt in England that you have to train, you have to give of yourself. That’s why the guys there, Jedinak, Zaha, to this day Joel Ward, who is the captain, was our right-back. He and I were even signed on the same day. I learnt about professionalism above all else, you have to respect the club, who’s paying your wages. So what do they expect from you? Professionalism.”

Mortiz left Crystal Palace for a transfer to Bolton in the summer of 2014. He also played for Pohang Steelers, Mumbai City, Buriram United, Denizlispor, Avaí, Londrina, Confiança and Hougang United until retiring at the start of this year.

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise could be about represent the Algerian national team, according to claims on Thursday.

Journalist Jugurtha Ibersiene states that the player became a ‘priority’ for the African country’s FA.

A source close to the Crystal Palace winger told the reporter that he’s keen on playing for Algeria after realising he wouldn’t get a chance to play for England orFrance.

Algeria are not alone in that race, though, as Nigeria are ‘not giving up’ and ‘doing everything’ to convince the player to represent them instead.

Olise was born in London, but due to French citizenship, he represented Les Bleus at the U-18 and U-21 levels.

A chance in the first team was never given, though, and at the age of 21, it’s natural that he starts looking at the alternatives he has in international football due to his heritage.

A thigh injury has stopped Olise from playing for Crystal Palace this season so far. The club show optimism about his return, though, and it’s possible that he could be back in the team in a couple of weeks.

Crystal Palace owner John Textor is using his links with David Blitzer as a potential route to buying Portuguese club Estoril.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says Textor is considering adding the Portuguese side to his group of clubs alongside Crystal Palace.

The journalist reports that Textor is ‘thinking of buying’ Estoril, who are currently bottom of Liga Portugal.

He reports that Textor has already travelled to Portugal to visit the club’s facilities as he eyes up a move to potentially help another of his club’s, Botafogo.

According to him the Portuguese law on ‘extra community players’ interests the American as he believes it could be used to help develop young players from Botafogo.

As yet there are no substantiative talks or anything of that nature regarding a takeover and it remains to be seen if he could agree a deal with current owner David Blitzer.

That is where Crystal Palace come into things, though, as Textor is a co-owner of the club with Blitzer and the likes of Steve Parish and Josh Harris. That means he has a relationship with the Estoril owner that he could take advantage of.

Crystal Palace are one of several clubs owned by the American, who also owns Botafogo, RWD Molenbeek and Lyon.
