Arsenal midfielder Jorginho will again be on penalty duties for Italy, despite missing a further straight spot-kick in the 5-2 win over North Macedonia.

That’s according to his manager Luciano Spalletti, who has revealed what he told the Arsenal midfielder after his latest disappointment from the spot.

Gazzetta dello Sport cover the Italy manager and the player today and how the latter may need a ‘strong heart’ when he comes up against Ukraine in Italy’s final qualifier.

The newspaper explains that Jorginho is now in the middle of a ‘poker of missed penalties’ after he missed for the fourth time in a row against the Macedonians.

They say that it was clear from the Arsenal man’s ‘petrified face’ and the ‘emptiness that can be seen in his gaze’ when Macedonia goalkeeper Dimitrievski easily saved his penalty that the old confidence from the spot is no longer there.

That miss brought back the specters of the miss against Switzerland, which ultimately ended up costing Italy a place at the World Cup in Qatar.

Despite that, Spalletti will continue to back the Arsenal man in future, which may mean he needs a ‘strong heart’ in the final qualifier against Ukraine, which Italy need to win to qualify for Euro 2024.

“Congratulations should be given to someone like him,” he said.

“The goalkeeper was good, he made him believe he was empty, and he didn’t take a good angle. He remains a special penalty taker. I already told him that he will beat him again next time and he said yes.”

Arsenal are keen on signing Rúben Neves in the winter market, according to Sport.

The 26-year-old left Wolverhampton Wanderers for Al-Hilal in the last window, and prior to that, he was subject to interest from various clubs.

This includes Arsenal and Barcelona, although not everyone at the Blaugrana was keen.

The Saudi Arabian club paid €55m for the midfielder, and others found this price to be too high, considering he had a year left on his deal at Molineux.

Arsenal are still interested in him because of Mikel Arteta, report Sport. It’s said the player is ‘Arteta’s new wish’ and the Gunners have a ‘firm intention’ to secure his services in January.

This season, Thomas Partey has struggled with form and injuries, and could be shown the exit door. The report states Arteta wants to replace him with Neves, who is the priority target for the manager.

Sport state Arteta has never wanted to dismiss the possibility of signing the Portugal international and continues to insist to the Arsenal board that they try to make an approach for him in January.

The player must be open to returning to England for the north London club to carry out his signing. The operation won’t be easy because AS state the Saudi clubs will be ‘very strict’ with players in the next window, so they don’t weaken their project.

Earlier this week, Arsenal’s Jorginho admitted he will definitely return to Serie A at some point in his career and also revealed that he misses Italy.

TV Play have interviewed the 31-year-old’s agent, Joao Santos, and he has refused to rule out a move back to Italy for the former Napoli star.

“Return to Italy? In football, never say never, today Arsenal are his priority,” he said.

At the start of this year, Arsenal signed the midfielder from Chelsea and handed him a deal until 2024. He has an option for another year and that hasn’t been exercised so far.

Mikel Arteta’s side and the Italy international will have to make a decision on his future in the coming months.

Jorginho has made four league starts in Arsenal’s last five matches and that’s helped him return to the Italy squad after five months. His agent has admitted the player is delighted to have returned to the national team for this month’s international break.

“I think [Luciano] Spalletti knows Jorginho very well, if he called him it’s because he needs a player with his characteristics,” Santos explained.

“There is always enthusiasm when you go to the national team. There is always enthusiasm, no one ever goes to the national team for the sake of it. He is an experienced player and represents an added value for the national team.”

On Friday, the Arsenal player missed a penalty in Italy’s victory over North Macedonia. He was on the pitch for 62 minutes before being replaced by AS Roma’s Bryan Cristante.

Following all the stories from the Italian media claiming Juventus are interested in Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, it’s now the French press who brings interesting news on this chase.

Foot Mercato today writes that the Bianconeri are now ‘accelerating’ to get the signing done in the January transfer window.

It’s said Juventus want to convince Partey of switching Arsenal for Juventus and even ‘held a meeting’ between their management and the player.

On Twitter, journalist Santi Aouna details that this meeting took place in London, with Bianconeri director Cristiano Giuntoli meeting the midfielder in the ‘past few days’.

The story points out that the player has been struggling to get playing time with the Gunners this season, and that could be a good argument for Juventus to use in the talks over a loan.

The Old Lady are looking to strengthen their midfield in the middle of the campaign, having several targets, but it seems it’s really Partey who is the priority at this moment in time.

Now we shall see if he gets convinced by their attempts and if Arsenal will make that transfer possible with a reasonable request.

With Arsenal not giving out too much information on Martin Ødegaard’s recent injury, it’s the Norwegian national team who have been responsible for updates.

Earlier this week, we’ve seen manager Stale Solbakken made it clear that was just a ‘normal’ issue and ‘not career-threatening’.

Now the coach spoke again, this time quoted by Eurosport, saying he just had a conversation with the Arsenal player.

“Now I’m coming from a three-quarter hour talk with Martin. He is getting better and better, and then he gradually steps up.”

Solbakken also claimed that Ødegaard could be back on the pitch for Arsenal soon.

“It has been more or less three weeks without any special training, so it is important to take it step by step. So both he and Arsenal probably hope that he is available for the Brentford match.”

Ødegaard’s last game for Arsenal was in the EFL Cup clash against West Ham United, when he played for a few minutes in the Hammers’ 3-1 win.

Since then, he missed out in four of the Gunners’ matches, with the Emirates side not making it very clear what the problem is.

The Norwegian updates should then come out as good news for Arsenal fans, who hope to have their captain back in the team as soon as possible.

Following the international break, Arsenal will be back on the pitch on the 25h of November, when they play Brentford, maybe with Ødegaard available.

Arsenal are interested in Valencia youngster Yarek Gariorowksi and have been trailing him for some time, with Brexit curtailing a previous plan to move for him.

That’s according to AS, who say the youngster is ‘ahead of his time’ and his performances on the pitch have earned him the attention of Arsenal.

The newspaper explains that the young defender has been earning rave reviews and did again this week when he bagged a hattrick for Spain’s U19s in a win over Moldova on Wednesday.

That took him to five goals in 16 games for his country, a ‘stellar performance’ that came after he appeared in Valencia’s defeat at Real Madrid.

He’s a talent that everyone is keeping an eye on, particularly in Europe, where scouts have had him on their list ‘for a long time’, specifically Arsenal.

They’ve been watching him for a while as he’s a kid ahead of his time, regularly playing in age groups beyond his years and ‘burning stages’ in the Valencia Academy.

Red Bull Salzburg already wanted to sign him in the past while it is a rare day when a scout from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus or Borussia Dortmund isn’t in attendance keeping an eye on him.

Arsenal are always among them, and they would have signed him ‘a long time ago’ if it had not been for the ‘bureaucratic impediments of Brexit.’

AS explain that English clubs cannot sign players under 18-years-old since Brexit, nor can they sign more than three players per season under the age of 21. Yarek has been 18 since January and Arsenal are ‘closely monitoring his arrival in the elite’ with Valencia.

The youngster has a contract with Valencia until 2025 and the Spanish club have an option to extend that by another two years if they comply with a series of federative, sporting and economic requirements. His release clause, at this point in his development, is worth €20m.

Whether Arsenal are ready to pay that for him, negotiate a lower fee or simply wait isn’t mentioned but their interest is there nonetheless and has been for some time.

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard has admitted he is looking to ‘make it as difficult as possible’ for manager Mikel Arteta when it comes to choosing his team.

The Belgian has been speaking to the media ahead of Belgium’s international fixtures this week, when he will again be a key player under Domenico Tedesco.

He’s again been in good form for Arsenal this season, with three goals and one assist in eight games in the Premier League and a further two goals and one assist in four games in the Champions League to go alongside his goal in the Community Shield.

Despite those good numbers he is yet to fully establish himself as a key, regular starter under Arteta, featuring in just 28% of the available minutes in the Premier League so far.

That has often led to questions about why that is the case and whether the 28-year-old is frustrated by his substitutes role, which often sees him playing in various positions as and where he is required.

It seems Trossard wants to put those rumours to bed, though, insisting he’s not only happy with his situation at Arsenal but delighted with his development since arriving from Brighton.

“I am very satisfied with my performance at Arsenal,” he told HLN.

“We are doing well, and I am happy that I can contribute to that. A permanent starting place? I don’t think anything needs to improve. I am doing well and can’t do more then make it as difficult as possible for the coach.”

“For me it doesn’t really matter where the coach puts me. I have played just about everywhere in recent years. Where the coach puts me, I will play my match. I don’t really have a preference.

“Pressing occurs with both Arteta and Tedesco. They both want to win the ball as high as possible on the pitch in order to create chances.

“Under Arteta I have made the most progress in terms of watching football. The playing style is very different from Brighton. The way we play football is fantastic. I have learned a lot tactically.”

Over the past week, we have seen a number of article suggesting that Jakub Kiwior could be the subject of a few offers from clubs in Italy for an Arsenal exit in January.

The Poland international has spent more time on the bench than off it this season, and that has led a number of teams to eye up some sort of loan going forward.

AC Milan are one of these, and despite some article stating that Arsenal would not be interested in letting him go due to their lack of depth at the position, Gazzetta dello Sport continue their coverage.

They state that the list of candidates for a move to the Serie A side this January is ‘longer’ than any other position, and the arrival of the Gunners man is ‘more than welcome’.

It’s then stated that it ‘remains to be seen’ whether Arsenal ‘will be willing to loan’, and judging by previous reports, they could find some resistance there.

For example, Numero Diez have an exclusive article on Kiwior, where they explicitly state that they ‘would not want to deprive themselves’ of the player this January.

What could have an impact is the player’s will, but there’s nothing more specific than that, meaning we will have to wait for further development from the defender’s end.

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus is again a reason for controversial comments in the Brazilian media today.

This time, it’s Band pundit Neto who made some heavy comments about the centre-forward getting called up for the current international break.

Quoted by Torcedores, the ex-player wonders why the Arsenal player is even in the squad, as he never impressed for Brazil and is actually injured.

“If the Brazilian national team belonged to the people, who would you call up in place of Gabriel Jesus, who isn’t even included in the Arsenal squad? Why is Gabriel Jesus with the national team? Because the national team belongs to the CBF,” said Neto.

“It’s not possible that a centre-forward who hasn’t scored a goal in two World Cups,” Neto began, saying that Pedro, Hulk and Marcos Leonardo would be better options.

“I can’t belittle Gabriel Jesus, but as a national team player he’s mediocre. He’s not a centre-forward. He’s not Careca, he’s not Ronaldo, Romário or Vavá. How can you call up a team that isn’t Brazilian, that belongs to the CBF? You call up an injured player. He doesn’t train. I saw it yesterday.”

Gabriel Jesus didn’t score a single goal in the 2018 World Cup, when he was Brazil’s number nine, and did the same in the 2022 World Cup, when he was brought on in the second half of three games, before getting injured.

His numbers for Brazil are indeed not impressive, with nine goals in 43 matches in official tournaments, and that’s why many people wonder why he’s still called up.

The striker had been injured at Arsenal and there’s indeed been a controversy about why he was now called up. He’s ruled out of tonight’s game against Colombia, and according to recent reports, he’ll try to recover in time to face Argentina next week.

On Wednesday, it was made clear in the Italian media that Arsenal would not be willing to let Jakub Kiwior leave in January.

That was due to the fact that, despite him not playing all that much under Mikel Arteta this season, the Gunners would have to replace him, even if he was to leave on loan.

AS Roma and AC Milan were among those keen in the Arsenal defender, but we now have a new team circling around sniffing for a deal in Fiorentina, according to Firenze Viola.

What could work in their favour, however, is that they aren’t interested in a January deal, but more so in the summer.

It’s explained that because he is out of Arsenal’s line-up more often than not, the belief is that the cost ofd a transfer ‘should not increase after a season’ with the London side.

Therefore, they are assuming they could get him for a fee similar to what the Gunners initially paid Spezia for him, which was €25m.

With that in mind, they see him as an ‘viable solution’ for their team going forward, but it will all depend on what Arsenal have in mind for him beyond the current campaign, as his path to a starting role at the Emirates is clearly blocked by the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.
