Earlier today, reports from Brazil emerged saying Fulham are leading the race for Fluminense midfielder André.

Even though the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to be interested in him, it’s the Whites who have the most advanced contacts for the signing.

As Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt was today interviewed by Sportv, he talked a little about the midfielder’s situation.

Without mentioning Fulham or any potential destinations for the player, the club chief made it clear that his idea is to make a huge sale.

“We’re waiting. Today, there is no concrete offer for André. But we’re sure that after the Club World Cup – he’s going to play in the Club World Cup – a stratospheric offer will come in. It could be the biggest sale in the club’s history,” Mario Bittencourt told Sportv.

The word in the Brazilian media has been that Fluminense want at least €35m for his sale. He’s the biggest star coming out of a team who’ve just won the Copa Libertadores.

Several English clubs were said to be watching the player in action in the final against Boca Juniors at the weekend, so Fulham should definitely watch out for the competition for the signing.

The reason Bittencourt makes it clear that André will feature in the Club World Cup is that most people in Brazil have no idea of how the European calendar works, as the season in South America ends in early December.
