Despite all the developments we’ve seen this week, the Brazilian media now reports that Atlético Mineiro have given up on signing Gustavo Scarpa from Nottingham Forest.

Radio Itatiaia and Goal Brasil come up to claim that the Galo decided ‘not to advance’ with the talks to sign the midfielder in January.

It’s said that Atlético were informed that Scarpa will fulfil his loan at Olympiakos until the end of the season, and Nottingham Forest will not negotiate him in January.

Those were the same outlets who claimed that the Brazilian club were preparing an offer for the transfer, so it sounds like it was a denial from Europe.

With Scarpa telling them he’s staying at Olympiakos, it pretty much looks like he wants to have one more chance to succeed in European football before considering a comeback to South America.

The midfielder has a contract with Nottingham Forest until 2026, so we’ll see whether that will result in a potential new opportunity at the City Ground, or if he’ll get negotiated once again at the end of the season.

Fulham and Nottingham Forest could sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy for an ‘easy’ €17.5m fee in the January transfer window.

That’s according to BILD, who say the Premier League duo have been keeping an eye on the attacker ‘for a long time’ and can get him on the cheap if they so wish.

The newspaper reports that, according to their information, striker Guirassy, who has 15 goals in nine games this season, can leave for a €17.5m fee in January thanks to a clause in his current contract.

There are no shortage of interested parties in the player and a recent unsanctioned interview in which he looked ahead to the transfer window made it sound like he would be interested in a move.

Fulham and Nottingham Forest are among the suitors and know the striker ‘would like’ to move to the Premier League at some point in his career.

They’ve been keeping an eye on him ‘for a long time’ and the aforementioned transfer fee ‘would be easy’ for both clubs to cover. If one of them were to get serious about a deal, a transfer ‘is not unlikely’.

This is something those in charge at Stuttgart know and according to BILD’s information, they’ve been looking for a possible replacement for months should he leave.

It now remains to be seen if Fulham or Nottingham Forest now make their move for the goalscorer, who it seems is very much available on the cheap should they want him.

Two days ago, UOL reported Atlético Mineiro have placed a bid to sign Nottingham Forest’s Gustavo Scarpa, who’s currently on loan at Olympiacos.

On Thursday, Goal Brasil stated the Galo haven’t yet tabled an offer but plan to make one soon. It was also said they want to offer less than €4m and hope to convince the Tricky Trees to lower the price tag.

The possibility of the Nottingham Forest man moving to Atlético Mineiro in January has been ruled out, if Rádio Itatiaia is to be believed.

It’s explained that Atlético Mineiro were willing to pay up to €3.5m to secure the attacking midfielder’s services.

However, they have decided not to proceed with negotiations after receiving information that the 29-year-old ‘will remain’ at the Greek club until the end of this season. Therefore, the Brazilian club have given up on signing the player in the winter market.

Scarpa left Palmeiras to join Nottingham Forest at the start of this year and Steve Cooper mainly used him as a substitute in the league during the second half of last season.

In the summer window, Nottingham Forest allowed Scarpa to join Olympiacos on loan, and he has made 11 appearances this season.

On Thursday, UOL published a story explaining why Nino’s transfer from Fluminense to Nottingham Forest is currently on hold.

It was stated that despite the verbal €7m agreement the clubs had, the Brazilian club are now demanding some extra bonuses, especially because they know there are more sides who are interested in the player.

Now as Globo Esporte features a new story about Nino and Nottingham Forest, they explain that situation a little further.

According to their report, more than one club already agreed to pay the defender’s release clause, which stands at €7m.

It’s then said that Fluminense no longer have an ‘active voice’ in the negotiations, as it’s now Nino himself who’ll choose who to sign for.

The reason there was this agreement with Nottingham Forest is that the Tricky Trees had accepted to give Fluminense 20% of a future transfer.

However, it seems that other clubs may just show up triggering the €7m release clause, and as long as Nino picks them, then both Fluminense and the Reds will have their hands tied.

Sevilla are growing increasingly concerned about Gonzalo Montiel’s loan spell at Nottingham Forest, were ‘problems are brewing’ with the player.

That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla, who say the Spanish side are concerned that a purchase obligation worth €11m won’t be met.

We covered a report earlier this month about the feelings at Sevilla over Montiel, who is struggling to establish himself while on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Vamos Mi Sevilla continue that today, saying that while the objectives set out in the agreement are ‘easy to achieve’ the player’s lack of minutes for Nottingham Forest puts a permanent deal in danger.

The full-back got off to a good start at his loan club but since the last international break, where he returned injured, has not played or been called up. That’s already cost him a place in Argentina’s squad for this international break.

It is current known if his ‘ostracism’ is due to injury or a technical decision by Steve Cooper, but the fact is it could stop him staying at Nottingham Forest permanently.

That’s because for the clause to be activated and become mandatory he has to play in at least 50% of their games, something Forest appear to be working to avoid.

That may not the case and he may be back in the team before long but for now, he’s out and Sevilla are growing increasingly concerned.

Nino’s transfer from Fluminense to Nottingham Forest became a complicated rumour lately.

Even though initial claims from Brazil said the player was ready to sign for the Reds, we’ve recently seen reports said the talks were put on hold, since the competition was growing.

As we now get to see a fresh story coming from UOL, there are actually some mixed news for Nottingham Forest.

It’s claimed that the transfer is only stalled at this time because, despite the verbal €7m deal the clubs had, Fluminense now want some extra bonuses.

The story does not make it clear how much more the Rio de Janeiro side are demanding, only claiming that all parties are working to sort this issue as soon as possible.

There’s also a problem with the payment of commissions, and some people involved are said to be optimistic, while others are more pessimists.

Nino drew big attention with the Libertadores title, so it’s not such a surprise that Fluminense are trying to make more money, as other clubs seem to be getting interested as well.

Now we shall see whether Nottingham Forest will match those new demands.

Just yesterday, Brazilian outlet UOL reported that Atlético Mineiro placed a bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa.

It was claimed that the Galo offered something between €4m and €5m for the player, who’s currently loaned out to Olympiacos.

It’s now time for Goal Brasil to come up with their story on it, claiming that the bid wasn’t delivered yet, but confirming that it should soon reach Nottingham Forest.

There are a couple of interesting claims in this fresher story, and those are about the stance taken by the Tricky Trees during the negotiations.

First of all, it’s claimed that Atlético would like to pay less than €4m for the transfer, but they could not convince Nottingham Forest to bring that price down.

Then it’s said that the only issue left is the payment method, as the Galo would like to do it in several instalments, and the Reds are still to agree with that.

At no moment is the Olympiacos loan mentioned, and it seems that in case Nottingham Forest decide to make the sale, they’ll just cut short his spell in Greece.

Nottingham Forest are showing interest in RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra, according to Foot Mercato.

The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of the club’s academy and made his way into the first team in 2021. He was a ‘real revelation’ of the Ligue 1 last season and was set to leave in the summer, before Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and his consortium bought the Ligue 1 side.

Although he hasn’t managed to replicate last season’s form, Diallo has managed to draw attention from elsewhere.

RC Lens, who were one of the clubs to try signing the midfielder in the last window, have not yet forgotten about him. They are joined by Nottingham Forest in the transfer chase.

Lens have tested the ground to try to sign the France U21 international in January. They have to be wary about Steve Cooper’s side as it’s said the Tricky Trees have also ‘come forward’ for the youngster.

The interest shown by Nottingham Forest and Lens isn’t enough to secure the player’s services because he doesn’t want to leave Strasbourg in January.

Foot Mercato state Diallo is focused on replicating his last season’s form and may consider looking elsewhere next summer.

The versatile midfielder has managed a goal and an assist from nine games this season.

It seems Nottingham Forest may soon have a partner club in Portugal.

That’s because Record today reports that Evangelos Marinakis is willing to invest in Rio Ave.

The outlet writes that the Greek businessman is set to be introduced to club members in an extraordinary assembly which is scheduled for Sunday.

Rio Ave president Alexandrina Cruz will be the one presenting the project and letting the members vote on whether Marinakis should be accepted as their new investor.

It’s claimed that the Nottingham Forest owner has been leaving a good impression at the Portuguese side, as they’re happy with the offer, since that will attract an interesting amount of money to the club.

Marinakis wouldn’t exactly own Rio Ave, as he’d be an investor who’d follow the club closely. It’s recalled that he’s been interested in Portuguese football for a while, as there had been previous negotiations for his investment in Paços de Ferreira.

Depending on how the voting goes, we could soon see Nottingham Forest finding interesting opportunities to negotiate players with the Portuguese club, as they often do with Olympiacos.

It’s also an interesting route to bring players from South America, a tactic well used by Portuguese clubs.

Fehérvár striker Levente Szabó has revealed how a ‘change of ownership’ at Nottingham Forest in 2017 stopped him from joining English club.

The forward has been speaking to the Hungarian club’s official website about his career so far, and how he could have ended up at the City Ground earlier in his career.

That career started at ETO FC Győr Youth before he moved to Atalanta to join their youth set up and then Genoa in 2017.

His time in Italy did not prove to be a successful one and he returned to Hungary with Fehérvár, where he’s been ever since, going out on various loans before moving up to the first team at the end of last year.

He’s been slowly establishing himself since then, with four goals and three assists in 40 games so far and just over 1000 minutes of first-team action.

It seems things could have been very different, though, as he narrowly missed out on a transfer in a first transfer window, trained with Nottingham Forest for six months with a promise to be bought in the summer, but that never happened due to the change of ownership.

He was therefore then free to leave Nottingham Forest for Genoa.

“It’s an interesting story because I ended up in Genoa with a detour from England,” he said.

“In January, it happened that I was going to transfer to Nottingham Forest, I went there, but in the end, we ran out of the transfer period, so I only trained with the English team for half a year.

“The agreement was that they would sign in the summer, but that summer there was a change of ownership at the team, so in the end the contract did not work out. That’s when Genoa approached me and because I liked playing football in Italy, I signed for them.”
