Following all the stories from the Italian media claiming Juventus are interested in Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, it’s now the French press who brings interesting news on this chase.

Foot Mercato today writes that the Bianconeri are now ‘accelerating’ to get the signing done in the January transfer window.

It’s said Juventus want to convince Partey of switching Arsenal for Juventus and even ‘held a meeting’ between their management and the player.

On Twitter, journalist Santi Aouna details that this meeting took place in London, with Bianconeri director Cristiano Giuntoli meeting the midfielder in the ‘past few days’.

The story points out that the player has been struggling to get playing time with the Gunners this season, and that could be a good argument for Juventus to use in the talks over a loan.

The Old Lady are looking to strengthen their midfield in the middle of the campaign, having several targets, but it seems it’s really Partey who is the priority at this moment in time.

Now we shall see if he gets convinced by their attempts and if Arsenal will make that transfer possible with a reasonable request.

Facing Liverpool in the Europa League, Toulouse weren’t expected to walk away with three points, but that’s exactly what they did.

The French club beat Jürgen Klopp’s men 3-2 in a wild game where VAR played a great part in destroying the nerves of all involved.

That includes Toulouse’s captain, Vincent Sierro, who spoke to Génération After on RMC Sport, relayed by Les Violets, who was asked about the game against Liverpool.

The midfielder made it clear the whole club were ‘very proud’ of what they achieved, and the aim for them is to get out of the group.

However, what Sierro wanted to talk more about was Liverpool’s last minute goal that was cancelled out by VAR, which had the entire stadium holding their breath.

He said: “It was a rollercoaster. In the moment, I clearly see MacAllister’s hand, and so did the whole stadium. When they scored, we all called for handball. I honestly felt it was going to be cancelled out, but when I saw they accepted it… We were all crushed. He finally went to see VAR, and after it was cancelled, it was more than a goal. It meant victory.”

Following that victory, Toulouse travelled to Lille, where they drew 1-1, showing that football is a game of moments, and a win against a Premier League side can quickly be cancelled out by a poorer performance.

Still, it’s a moment that entire team will cherish for a very long time.

Making it clear he wanted to leave Tottenham in the summer, Hugo Lloris never got the move he wanted, and eventually stayed at the London club.

He hasn’t made an appearance since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival, and appears to be biding his time ahead of the January transfer window, when something fresh will be explored.

Le Figaro in France have an article on the Tottenham goalkeeper’s situation, where they managed to talk to some people close to the veteran to see where everything stands.

One of the reasons why he stayed put was because he expected his club to allow him to leave for free a year before the end of his contract, but Daniel Levy ‘was hoping for a transfer indemnity’.

This obviously ‘didn’t please’ the player, who has now made it clear he no longer wants to hand out any gifts to those above him at the club.

Someone close to Lloris said: “His family comes before everything and he doesn’t want to go on an adventure or even worse, end up in a second-tier club.”

The Tottenham player is now ‘impatiently waiting’ for the January transfer window, hoping to find the exit route he has been hoping for, even if the situation of players such as David de Gea doesn’t exactly fill him with confidence.

Another source told Le Figaro: “At the start of the year, he will look at all options because he is no longer in his club’s plans even if he could easily help them out. Either he will bounce back (at a new club) or he will finish his season at Tottenham and could even bow out at the end of this one.”

As for his father, he said: “Hugo has always been transparent, and now, it’s backfiring on him. This situation is clearly affecting him. He wants to respect everything and gives his all during the week, but his misses the competition because he’s been in it all his life. It’s even more frustrating because he feels in great form.

“(Retirement) is not impossible. Hugo is a lad who plans, who anticipates a lot of things, but he has the mentality to bounce back in one way or another.”

When Chelsea started buying every young player under the sun after the arrival of Todd Boehly, they didn’t waste time in going after some of the up and coming Frenchmen such as Lesley Ugochukwu.

They spent €27m on the 19-year-old to convince Stade Resnais to sell him, and while he was always one for the future, the transfer fee suggested they would use him a bit more than they have.

While he has played in the EFL Cup, he has struggled to make a space for himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the Premier League, which is worrying Thierry Henry, France’s U21 manager, as he explained in quotes relayed by L’Equipe.

Normally a key part of his plans, the former Monaco manager has admitted that Ugochukwu’s situation at Stamford Bridge isn’t ideal, and if it doesn’t change soon, he might have to think twice about selecting him.

He said: “His situation is different (to Johann Lepenant’s) at Chelsea because he has players like Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in front of him, but he finds himself not playing, and, these days, these players don’t even play with the reserve team to find some rhythm.

“At the start of the season, you can make use of the pre-season, but those benefits disappear and I hope that he’s going to be able to last.”

That doesn’t sound like the most optimistic train of thought, and it’s clear that if Pochettino doesn’t start using him more, the 19-year-old might have to consider leaving Chelsea for game time, at least temporarily.

This, however, is something he will have to sort out with his club in the coming weeks.

Nottingham Forest are showing interest in RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra, according to Foot Mercato.

The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of the club’s academy and made his way into the first team in 2021. He was a ‘real revelation’ of the Ligue 1 last season and was set to leave in the summer, before Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and his consortium bought the Ligue 1 side.

Although he hasn’t managed to replicate last season’s form, Diallo has managed to draw attention from elsewhere.

RC Lens, who were one of the clubs to try signing the midfielder in the last window, have not yet forgotten about him. They are joined by Nottingham Forest in the transfer chase.

Lens have tested the ground to try to sign the France U21 international in January. They have to be wary about Steve Cooper’s side as it’s said the Tricky Trees have also ‘come forward’ for the youngster.

The interest shown by Nottingham Forest and Lens isn’t enough to secure the player’s services because he doesn’t want to leave Strasbourg in January.

Foot Mercato state Diallo is focused on replicating his last season’s form and may consider looking elsewhere next summer.

The versatile midfielder has managed a goal and an assist from nine games this season.

That’s according to RMC Sport, who state the midfielder has aroused interest from the Red Devils, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. These three clubs have been observing him in action for the Ligue 1 side.

Juve have travelled to watch the 24-year-old while Manchester United and PSG have also been monitoring him.

Erik ten Hag’s side had looked at the France international towards the end of the summer window. It’s claimed Manchester United had made an offer of a loan deal with an option to buy, but this didn’t please the principality club.

Fofana has a deal lasting until 2025 and RMC Sport make no mention if any of the three clubs have plans to make an offer or pay the fee needed to convince Monaco to sanction his sale.

The player has been a regular in Monaco’s midfield since he joined them from RC Strasbourg in 2020. His displays helped him make his debut for France in September 2022, but he’s had to settle for a substitute’s role under Didier Deschamps so far.

In the absence of Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga, Fofana will be hoping to get minutes against Gibraltar and Greece this month.

With Ineos appearing to be closer than ever in their attempt of buying 25% of Manchester United, they will also get a major say in sporting matters.

This has been reported on for quite a while, but there are more details emerging in France of what will take place at Old Trafford if it all goes through.

Foot Mercato bring the latest, claiming that major changes are expected to take place after news emerged that Richard Arnold was to leave his role as Manchester United’s CEO.

The French website claim that Jean-Claude Blanc, current the general director of Ineos Sport, will be the one to replace him once the minority stake is purchased, while there have been ideas as to who would take the spots of John Murtough and David Harrison if they were to be moved on.

For the director of football role, Foot Mercato report that two names are strongly appreciated above others, with those being former AS Monaco director Paul Mitchell, as well as ex-Liverpool transfer man Michael Edwards.

On X, reporter Santi Aouna claims the former is ‘ready to sign’ and take over from Murtough, but some deals have ‘yet to be finalised’.

In short, he appears to be the frontrunner.

On Tuesday, the France national team enjoyed their first serious training of the international break, but it was quickly noticed that Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara wasn’t present.

The defensive midfielder has often been called up by Didier Deschamps without really getting played that often, but that hasn’t stopped him from hoping he can soon represent his country for the fourth time in his career.

However, whether the Aston Villa player does in the next game against Gibraltar will depend on how he recovers from a small physical setback, as explained by Le Parisien.

They explain that both Kamara and Jonathan Clauss weren’t present on the training pitch, because both received a ‘kick’ in their last games for their clubs, meaning a knock of some sort.

The pair were ‘preserved’ by the France national team staff, but any worries are quickly dispelled, as they claim that neither of their issues ‘inspires worries’ for the two games against Gibraltar and Greece.

Therefore, if the Aston Villa midfielder is going to play, he will get his chance.

It’s just entirely up to Didier Deschamps.

OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo continues to be a target for Manchester United after being linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer window.

That’s according to Sport, who explain the centre-back is the Red Devils’ ‘big objective’ in January.

The 23-year-old has impressed with his performances and Manchester United have been closely following him for months.

It’s claimed the former Barcelona man is now ready to take the next step in his career and this is where Erik ten Hag’s side appear as an option.

Nice owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is edging closer towards taking a minatory stake at the Premier League side, and that may help the Red Devils in the winter market.

Raphaël Varane has lost prominence under Ten Hag in recent weeks and Sport suggest the Old Trafford club are thinking about replacing him with his compatriot. The report states the main obstacle is to convince Nice to part ways with the player.

Sport state Todibo’s valuation has increased, and is well above €30m. They further add his sale could see Nice fetch in excess of €40m and this would please his former club, Barca, because they are entitled to receive 20% of the fee.

It needs to be seen if this claim would be backed up in France or England.

The Catalan outlet seems to be desperate to see Barca receive additional income and the defender’s sale in January could help them earn more money.

Earlier this month, we covered an interview with Rayan Aït-Nouri, where the Algeria international explained how happy he was with his start of the season at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

His performances for the Molineux side certainly haven’t gone unnoticed, and the defender has long been courted by the likes of OGC Nice, who gave it a go last summer, to no avail.

Now, we see Liverpool added to the mix for the Wolves left-back, and Le10 Sport have a big article on the defender’s situation.

Of course, the news that the Reds could move for him is an exciting one, but the French website make it very clear no January transfer would take place.

While they were unable to confirm whether Liverpool have in fact opened some sort of dossier for the Wolves player, they were told that Aït-Nouri is the subject of ‘regular’ and ‘insistent’ contact from clubs.

That being said, the Molineux club have ‘no intention’ of letting the 22-year-old leave in January, ‘regardless of the offer that could arrive’.

Therefore, the player will be ‘blocked’ from making a transfer in the upcoming transfer window.

This means that if Liverpool are indeed interested, they would have to wait until next summer to get something done.
