Italian side Bologna are eyeing up a potential move for Tottenham striker Alejo Veliz in the January transfer window as they look to add a forward to their squad.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the striker ‘is in first place’ on Bologna’s list of potential targets.

The newspaper explains that Bologna need to add a striker to their game and one that will fit in with manager Thiago Motta’s game and the Tottenham man is believed to fit the bill.

The Italian side have a ‘preference list’ of potential targets and Veliz ‘is in first place’ but those in charge at the club will not move until around mid-December.

By that point the likes of technical director Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio, alongside Motta, will know whether the Tottenham youngster can become a ‘concrete solution’ for them when the January transfer window opens.

They’re waiting to see if Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is willing to let Veliz go out on loan to allow him to get regular playing time, having barely featured for Spurs so far this season.

Corriere say Veliz is sad about his situation and has made it clear he would be happy to land in Bologna, who have been making it clear for months that they love him. He is well aware of that ‘great esteem’ and feels it strongly.

The question is what type of deal they could do as Sartori would like to convince Tottenham to include a right to buy as part of any loan, even if it would be high for them at €13-15m, which is pretty much the price the Premier League side paid for him.

Bologna’s interest is nothing new as they tried to get him in the summer and had wrapped up a deal with Rosario Central for him but were reliant on Marko Arnautovic departing.

That never happened and they were forced to abandon the plan for Veliz, who was then scooped up by Tottenham as part of their summer rebuild.

The hope is that his lack of gametime in England since could open up the possibility of them reviving their interest and a potential deal in January, but it will be dependent on Spurs.

Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski has urged Sweden to find a manager who can give them a “real game idea”, just like Ange Postecoglou has done at his club.

The winger has been speaking to Fotboll Skanalen about what he thinks Sweden need to do to turn things around and get out of their current predicament.

Kulusevski and his team were this week beaten 3-0 by 10-man Azerbaijan away from home, their latest disappointing defeat in what has been a miserable campaign to qualify for the Euros.

Despite dominating possession in the game and creating double the amount of chances they were unable to turn that into goals, with the home side converting all three of their chances and looking relatively comfortable despite being a man down from the 57th minute.

It left Sweden on seven points from seven games, 12 points behind leaders Austria and 10 behind second placed Belgium.

With manager Janne Andersson set to step down after the clash with Estonia this weekend, a new man will be coming in and Kulusevski has urged his nation to look at what happened with Tottenham as a perfect example of how to move on.

“I’m hungry as hell,” he said.

“Things have been going badly for quite a long period. Since the Nations League, things have gone downhill. But that doesn’t mean it will be like that in the future.

“When playing football, the most important thing is to fall back on a game idea. Because anything can happen in a football match. A guy scored from 80 meters last Thursday.

“The important thing is that you can fall back on a game idea and know what to do. We need to be completely clear about exactly what we want to do and that we are working on it.

“It’s a little like we have it in Tottenham. Don’t look at the result, don’t look at the time. Do what we’re supposed to do. Follow the game idea. It’s just see the difference between Tottenham this season and last season.

“It’s the exact same players, we’ve only made a few changes, but the team is 100 times better. It’s thanks to a game idea. It’s not that the players have gotten better. We have a clear idea, and we know what we want from each other. It’s probably the best thing for a team, to have a game idea and execute it.”

Eric Dier has less than a year left on Tottenham Hotspur deal and his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.

AS Roma are looking at him and on Friday, Romagiallorossa.it stated José Mourinho has specifically requested the Serie A side sign the defender in January.

Calciomercato now state the Giallorossi have met with ‘resistance’ from Tottenham, when it comes to parting ways the 29-year-old, after Micky van de Ven suffered an injury.

Earlier this month, Van de Ven picked up a hamstring injury in Spurs’ defeat to Chelsea, and Ange Postecoglou has admitted the centre-back could be out of action for the rest of the calendar year.

Tottenham’s resistance in sanctioning the England international’s exit has seen Roma target Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior. This is stated by Calciomercato when explaining AC Milan’s desire to sign the Pole.

Corriere dello Sport say Roma are looking at players who could be made available on loan or have deals expiring in 2024. Kiwior belongs to the former and their idea is to sign him on a temporary deal in the winter market.

Dier, who has made only two appearances this season, also gets a mention, and belongs to the second category.

With regards to the Tottenham centre-back, the newspaper questions whether the former Celtic manager will agree to release him in January, after handing the player opportunities in the last two matches.

Dejan Kulusevski’s last goal for Tottenham Hotspur came in their defeat to Chelsea earlier this month.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring, before Cole Palmer scored the equaliser and Nicolas Jackson netted a hat-trick to help the Blues seal a 4-1 victory over Spurs.

After the Tottenham player scored, he celebrated by placing his hands on either side of his eyes, and has now explained what it meant during an interview with Fotbollskanalen.

A few days before the clash against Chelsea, Ange Postecoglou used horses as an example to explain to his Tottenham players the importance of being focused.

The forward has revealed he was relaying the manager’s message during the celebration and plans to continue it, whenever he finds the back of the net for the north London club.

“The coach had talked about it a few days before, that we should be like horses and only look ahead. It was just that,” he added.

“I like it. I haven’t had one in a while so now I’m going to try to make some more goals so I can do it more often.”

Spurs started the campaign on a bright note and were leading the table for most of this season, before they suffered defeats in their last two matches against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tottenham are fourth in the table, trailing leaders Manchester City by two points, and the Sweden international is enjoying life under the former Celtic manager.

“It’s a dream for a player. We shouldn’t check the result or how much time is left in the match, we should just do what the game idea says. Regardless of whether it’s a home game, an away game or if we’re behind. It’s really nice,” Kulusevski explained.

This week, we’ve seen a few stories from the Italian media claiming Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Samuel Iling-Junior from Juventus.

It’s been said the player is on Spurs’ radar, with the club considering him a relatively cheap option for the January transfer window.

Now as outlet Bianconera News comes up to show Juventus’ stance on the sale, they actually bring some positive news for Tottenham.

It’s claimed that the Old Lady are indeed considering letting Iling-Junior go because of his little playing time at the club.

The outlet says a January transfer could be an ‘opportunity’ for him to find a new place and Tottenham are named ‘in particular’ as a potential destination.

Spurs are called a ‘growing team with an ambitious project’ who could afford to sign Iling-Junior in January.

Juventus also like the idea of selling now because there’d be less pressure than in the summer, when there’ll only be one year left on his contract.

Given the situation, this one shouldn’t be very difficult for Tottenham or other interested clubs to complete in January.

Club América need to ‘take advantage’ of defender Sebastián Cáceres in December, after already turning down a bid from Tottenham for him this month.

That’s according to journalist Roberto Haz, who believes the Mexican side need to use the player’s rising status to their advantage after a star performance against world champions Argentina.

Cáceres was a key part of Uruguay’s 2-0 win over Argentina on Thursday, putting in a superb defensive display for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and keeping the likes of Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez quiet in the famous victory.

It was the latest impressive showing from the defender, who appears to be earning himself plaudits and admirers in Europe.

Tottenham are one of them, with reports over the last few months indicating that they are interested and one earlier this month even stating that they had seen a bid rejected for him.

The defender’s asking price is likely to be rising as his performances earn attention and Haz believes his club need to take advantage as other clubs potentially join Tottenham in the hunt.

Labelling the player as ‘the wall of Uruguay’, he made his feelings clear on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Sebastián Cáceres had a great game against Argentina, he didn’t let Lionel Messi, Julián Álvarez, Lautaro Martínez and company pass him,” he said.

“América has to take advantage of the fact that in December there will be many offers for the Uruguayan.”

Fiorentina midfielder Antonin Barak has admitted he was left angry by Napoli’s decision to sign Tottenham flop Tanguy Ndombele over him last season.

Barak has been speaking to Diretta.it in Italy, relayed by Fiorentina.it, about various aspects of his career so far and a failed move to Napoli in in 2022.

The midfielder had been close to joining the eventual Italian champions that summer but saw his move collapse as they went for the Tottenham man instead.

Ndombele eventually arrived on loan that summer as Tottenham again sent him out on a temporary deal as he was not a part of their plans.

He did not prove to be a smart signing for Luciano Spalletit’s side, though, playing a peripheral role at best as they went on to win Serie A.

The deal was largely considered a disaster and the midfielder labelled a flop, something presumably only helped to further Barak’s frustrations over his own move collapsing.

“After the 2021/2022 season I was very close, it was practically already done,” he said.

“But unfortunately in the end everything got complicated, we were unable to close in June and Napoli delayed the sale of Fabián Ruiz, in whose place I should have arrived.

“Ultimately, Napoli received an offer to bring midfielder Ndombele from Tottenham almost for free.

“I was very angry at the time, but in hindsight I don’t blame them at all for choosing that path.”

Last night, Sweden said goodbye to any chances of going to the Euro, as they got defeated 3-0 in their trip to Azerbaijan.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski was on the pitch through the whole match, and was one of those who felt sorry for the fans who travelled to see the game.

Swedish outlet Aftonbladet features some of his quotes, with him lamenting the loss. And asked whether the players should pay for the fans’ trip, he claims there’s a possibility.

“We are here to talk. If some supporters want it, it’s a discussion we absolutely have to have.”

“Now we don’t know if that’s what they want, but if they feel that it’s what they’re looking for, we can absolutely have that discussion.”

Sweden still have a last match against Estonia to be played on Sunday, and only then Kulusevski is rejoining Tottenham’s squad.

The full-back may not have impressing stats this season, with only three goals in 13 appearances, but has been a very important man for Ange Postecoglou, as he was a starter in all of Spurs’ matches in the Premier League so far.

Tottenham will be back on the pitch on the 26th of November, when they play Aston Villa and even have a new chance to get back to the top of the table.

The past week has seen Tottenham linked with Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, who has enjoyed a good start to the season with the Italian club.

So much so, in fact, that the Serie A side have tried to protect themselves from interested clubs, such as Spurs, by getting their star to sign a new contract.

And, after a fair bit of negotiating, they have managed to convince him to put pen to paper to a new deal, keeping him at the club until 2027.

Whether that will be enough to put off Tottenham from signing him remains to be seen, but what it will certainly do is give Genoa a bit more leverage in any future negotiations.

The 26-year-old has caught the attention of many with his performances from the wing during the current campaign, as he has found the back of the net seven times in 14 appearances, as well as assisting one goal.

This is what appears to have led Tottenham to watch the Iceland international, who also boasts six goals in 35 caps for his country.

Manager Fernando Diniz may carry the main guilt for Brazil’s 2-1 loss to Colombia last night, but if there’s a player who’s getting nearly the same criticism, that’s Emerson Royal.

The Tottenham Hotspur fullback really struggled in defence, and got big blame for such a poor performance for the five-time World Champions.

As Globo Esporte comes up with the ratings for Brazil players last night, they gave him 3.5 out of 10, which was the lowest in the team. The fans made it even worse, as they rated him 1 out of 10.

Royal’s biggest problem was defending Luis Diaz. Globo Esporte points the Tottenham player got ‘bent’ by the Liverpool star. He also failed in Colombia’s two goals, as he couldn’t stop the cross in the first, and didn’t go up for the header in the second.

As UOL writes about Brazil’s defensive system, they claim Fernando Diniz’s side do not have good fullbacks, and Royal is one of those to blame for that.

We now shall see whether the national team will keep the Tottenham player in the starting line-up, as Brazil face Argentina on Thursday.
