Manchester United won’t be hiring Sporting Club de Portugal manager Rúben Amorim in December, with the Portuguese side needing to keep him and his squad together.

That’s according to former president of the General Assembly of the Lions, Eduardo Barroso, who has been speaking to Leonino about the situation at the club.

Amorim has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United over the last month or so, with the pressure increasing on current manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has found himself increasingly in the spotlight after a disappointing start to the season littered with disappointing results that has Manchester United sixth in the table, five points behind the top four and bottom of Group A in the Champions League with three points from four games.

The growing belief has been that United may look to change and several reports have made it clear that Amorim, who has been impressing in Portugal with Sporting, is among the leading candidates that would be looked at.

That suggestion has been rejected on several occasions in Portugal and Barroso continues that, insisting he can’t see a deal happening any time soon.

“We need to keep the coach and keep the players that are there. Rúben Amorim at Manchester United? I don’t believe he will leave in December, it’s impossible”, he is quoted as saying.

As Juventus continue to stand as way out for Jadon Sancho to leave Manchester United, we now get mixed messages about that possibility.

Positive news about this rumour comes from Tuttosport, who feature a story covering the English news that Jean Claude Blanc could be the Red Devils’ next CEO following the arrival of Jim Ratcliffe.

The Frenchman had several roles at Juventus in the past, including a few months as a club president, and it’s believed that his good relationship with the club could make things easier for Sancho to leave Manchester United and join the Old Lady.

That’s a theoretical scenario which even makes sense, but outlet CalcioMercato.it also comes up with a piece that doesn’t sound so optimistic about it.

The outlet claims Sancho is ‘not a priority’ for Juventus, and the main reasons are his salary and his tactical position.

Massimiliano Allegri’s team is not in such need of a left winger. And that’s why it wouldn’t be worth making such a heavy investment on his arrival, as he’s said to have a huge salary at Manchester United. That means either the player accepts a big pay cut or the Red Devils continue to cover a major part of it.

Manchester United continue to have RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba on their radar, according to Bild.

The Bundesliga side signed the 20-year-old from Lyon in the last window and prior to that, the Red Devils had looked at him.

Despite the summer disappointment, Erik ten Hag’s side haven’t forgotten about the centre-back.

It’s claimed Manchester United are still interested in the player and want to bring him to Old Trafford.

Bild add the English club continue to target him and their scouts have recently watched the France international ‘again and again’.

Lukeba’s deal lasts until 2028 and the report makes no mention of a price tag or a release clause. That’s because they state it’s ‘almost impossible’ for Manchester United or any other club to take him away from the German club next summer.

Leipzig see the Frenchman as an integral part of their future plans and believe that he can continue to develop.

Lukeba has made 16 appearances this season and his displays for Leipzig helped him make his debut for France during October’s international break. He’s currently with the France U21 squad, preparing for the upcoming matches against Austria and South Korea.

When Victor Lindelöf ended up facing Roony Bardghji in the Champions League, few could have predicted that the young forward would end up being the one to be the game winner against Manchester United.

While they weren’t called up together with the national team, as the youngster was kept in the U21s, the Red Devils defender has managed to have a chat with him.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, the centre-back was asked about having to face a compatriot on the pitch in the Champions League, and his feelings following Manchester United’s encounter with FC Copenhagen.

He said: “For my own part, it wasn’t fun, but it’s very fun that a young Swedish player can get up to that level and do well. For Swedish football, it’s a lot of fun. I haven’t seen much of him, but from what I saw during the match, I saw that he has great qualities. I had a little chat with him after the game. He seems like a calm and nice guy.”

Bardghji scored the winner in a thrilling 4-3 encounter between Manchester United and the Danish side, which piled on the misery for Erik ten Hag’s side after a few tough weeks.

Lindelöf will now try and get back on track with Sweden during the international break before return to Carrington to prepare for the upcoming game against Everton at Goodison Park on November 26th.

The 18-year-old Bardghi has seven goals in 15 league games for his side this season, making him one of the hottest prospects in football these days.

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong had “already said goodbye” to the German club as Manchester United and Barcelona chased his signature last summer.

That’s according to BILD journalist Axel Hesse, who has revealed to Voetbal International that the failure to secure a transfer was “a setback” for the full-back.

Frimpong was linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen throughout the summer transfer window after a season which saw him rack up nine goals and 11 assists in 48 games in all competitions of for the Bundesliga outfit.

Those are impressive numbers for a full-back and earned him attention around Europe, particularly from Manchester United.

Numerous reports from Germany indicated they were keen on the Dutchman, with Erik ten Hag unconvinced by Aaron Wan Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

A report at the end of May indicated that a move to Old Trafford was pretty much a done deal, with Bayer Leverkusen having already secured a replacement and seemingly convinced he was on the way too.

That transfer never ended up happening, though, with Manchester United instead preferring to spend their money elsewhere on improving Ten Hag’s squad.

That was a disappointment for Frimpong, according to Hesse, who does however believe it won’t be long before he’s moving somewhere else anyway.

“If you had asked me after last season whether Jeremie would still play for Leverkusen, I would have thought it impossible,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying.

“Major clubs had shown interest, there were contacts with Barcelona and Manchester United at an early stage. That (failed exit) was a setback for him, because I think he had already said goodbye to the club in his mind.

“He plays a big role in the team that is not only at the top of the Bundesliga, but also plays the best football in Germany. As a wingback he has become a great weapon.

“After the market closed, he signed a new contract, which includes a release clause of €40m for next summer. If he continues to play like this, he will definitely be sold. Spanish football is tailor-made for him. If you If you ask me, Jeremie is the ideal back for a team like Barcelona.”

After a rather terrible start to the season, Manchester United will be hoping to finish the first half of the season strongly and use the 1-0 win over Luton Town as a launching pad.

Erik ten Hag now has a week and a bit to try and sort problems out during the international break, which is also a time when some transfer rumours start swirling ahead of January.

Il Romanista in Italy have a rather interesting article on Thursday claiming that Manchester United are interested in an AS Roma player, and it’s a centre-back.

Don’t worry, it isn’t Chris Smalling, but his teammate Gianluca Mancini, who has been a rock at the back for José Mourinho this season, starting every single game in Serie A.

The website explain the Italian has ‘entered the sights’ of Manchester United, who need a ‘reliable central defender’ to help out Raphaël Varane, who has seen a dip in his form take place.

While there has been something of a Harry Maguire resurgence, he still has not been ‘convincing for some time’, while Lisandro Martínez continues to battle an injury.

That’s why Mancini is a ‘welcome profile’ around Old Trafford, and his valuation of around €20m is an amount Manchester United can ‘easily dispose of’.

The problem here is that AS Roma won’t let him leave for that, and the Friedkin family will be asking for ‘at least €10-15m more’.

In the end, while the Serie A club might not want to sell him, a lot could end up depending on the player himself, because it ‘cannot be ruled out’ that the interest of someone like Manchester United could make his head turn.

Manchester United are among the clubs keeping tabs on AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.

That’s according to RMC Sport, who state the midfielder has aroused interest from the Red Devils, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. These three clubs have been observing him in action for the Ligue 1 side.

Juve have travelled to watch the 24-year-old while Manchester United and PSG have also been monitoring him.

Erik ten Hag’s side had looked at the France international towards the end of the summer window. It’s claimed Manchester United had made an offer of a loan deal with an option to buy, but this didn’t please the principality club.

Fofana has a deal lasting until 2025 and RMC Sport make no mention if any of the three clubs have plans to make an offer or pay the fee needed to convince Monaco to sanction his sale.

The player has been a regular in Monaco’s midfield since he joined them from RC Strasbourg in 2020. His displays helped him make his debut for France in September 2022, but he’s had to settle for a substitute’s role under Didier Deschamps so far.

In the absence of Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga, Fofana will be hoping to get minutes against Gibraltar and Greece this month.

Manchester United have had a mixed start to this season, losing five of their 12 league games. They are sixth in the table and trailing fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur by five points.

The Red Devils have suffered three defeats in the Champions League, leaving them bottom of the group table, and have also been knocked out of the EFL Cup.

Recent claims had suggested Erik ten Hag has lost the dressing room but Victor Lindelöf has denied this during an interview with Fotbollskanalen.

The centre-back has been honest in admitting that Manchester United’s performances have been mixed so far this season.

“It has been tough, of course. In terms of performances, it has been up and down, we haven’t quite reached the level we wanted,” he said.

“And there will always be a lot written about a club like Manchester United. Other teams have been praised for their start to the season, but we are still only four or five points behind, I don’t know exactly. It’s not terribly bad, but certainly not at the level we want to be.”

Manchester United will soon see changes off the pitch as Sir Jim Ratcliffe is edging closer towards taking a minority stake at the club.

On Wednesday, the Premier League side announced CEO Richard Arnold will step down from his position and Patrick Stewart will take over as interim CEO. The 29-year-old has given his take on Arnold’s exit from the club.

“I just received an SMS about it. He is a person I like very much. I think he did very well and represented the club in a nice way. It is sad that he has to leave. I’ll have to call or text him later to thank him in person,” Lindelöf explained.

The Sweden international’s contract expires in 2024, with an option for another year. He believes Manchester United will exercise that option.

“There I get to see what happens. There is an option and it will most likely be activated,” he added

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has insisted that Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho will remain on their radar long-term, despite being left out of the latest squad.

The Argentina boss answered questions on the Manchester United man today after leaving him out of his group for this international break.

The youngster has been a regular in the squad since earlier this year, with the World Cup champions eager to ensure he was tied to them rather than Spain, who he was also eligible to play for due to having dual citizenship.

It was surprising then, that he was left out of the group this time around, with Argentina set to take on Uruguay and Brazil.

His absence has naturally caused some concern among Argentine fans, who have been keen to question why Garnacho is absent.

Journalist Gastón Edul responded to one such question earlier today, explaining that the Manchester United man’s absence was one made by those in charge, but he remained a part of their plans.

That’s a stance that Scaloni has now backed up, insisting the choice to leave Garnacho out was only a temporary one and he will be a part of the squad again moving forwards.

“In terms of Ale, it’s a question of football, the same thing I said to him,” he said.

“Sometimes bringing players, we are human beings, and we don’t like to bring players and leave them out constantly or that they are not part of the squad.

“He wants to be there, he’s great, but there are times when the human part plays and you have to make decisions. It would have been easy for me to bring him, to be here and maybe he won’t play.

“In the last call-ups he didn’t have a minute and well, there are times when you have to make decisions, but he’s a boy who’s on our radar and he’s going to stay, he’s just starting, and he has a huge future.”

With Ineos appearing to be closer than ever in their attempt of buying 25% of Manchester United, they will also get a major say in sporting matters.

This has been reported on for quite a while, but there are more details emerging in France of what will take place at Old Trafford if it all goes through.

Foot Mercato bring the latest, claiming that major changes are expected to take place after news emerged that Richard Arnold was to leave his role as Manchester United’s CEO.

The French website claim that Jean-Claude Blanc, current the general director of Ineos Sport, will be the one to replace him once the minority stake is purchased, while there have been ideas as to who would take the spots of John Murtough and David Harrison if they were to be moved on.

For the director of football role, Foot Mercato report that two names are strongly appreciated above others, with those being former AS Monaco director Paul Mitchell, as well as ex-Liverpool transfer man Michael Edwards.

On X, reporter Santi Aouna claims the former is ‘ready to sign’ and take over from Murtough, but some deals have ‘yet to be finalised’.

In short, he appears to be the frontrunner.
